Learn to Race
Sailors should be able to demonstrate consistent and safe sailing and boat handling skills in various conditions prior to engaging in racing.
Racing can be a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself, meet people and refine your sailing skills.
Sailors who are interested in participating in racing may pursue racing opportunities within the program, the club, and the area.
2019 Race Practices
- Saturdays from 2pm-5pm, excluding long weekends.
This year, we are beginning to join the sailors at our host club, the Canadian Forces Sailing Association, for their Wednesday night races. We have two 23′ Sonar which is open to our clients to crew, as well as racing opportunities in our Martin 16′ fleet on Wednesday nights. Please consult an instructor to see what you would be eligible for.
Mobility Cup – Canada’s International Regatta for Sailors with Disabilities
Each summer, competitors come from across Canada and the United States as well as Europe and as far away as New Zealand take part in an annual Martin 16 Regatta entitled ‘Mobility Cup’. Billed as a “regatta of possibilities” Mobility Cup´s inspiring format brings sailors that may have never sailed before to the start line with past Mobility Cup champions. Locations vary year to year, and DSA Sailors are encouraged to attend. Talk to an instructor if you are interested!
