Are you looking to get involved in your community? Check out our volunteer opportunities below. Please contact the Leisure Assistance Coordinator to find out how.
This service involves matching a person with a disability one-on-one with a volunteer (Leisure Assistant) who has similar recreation and leisure interests. Together the volunteer and the participant seek out activities in the community that they both enjoy.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please see the website for more information about how to get involved. This program is looking for volunteers over the summer months (May – August) to operate the safety boat and/or be a companion sailor.
Occasionally R.I.V. participates as a charity in community events or plans fundraising events throughout the year. For example, RIV has had a fundraising team (The Equalizers!) involved in the Goodlife Fitness Marathon for the past several years now! Visit our Equalizers page to find out more about how you can get involved.
From time to time we are informed of special events in the community that are looking for volunteers. These events are a great way to expand your volunteer experiences, as well as connect you to other local agencies. If you are interested in participating in Special Events, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org so we can keep you in mind for later dates!
We strive to keep the loan fee minimal so that our equipment can be accessible for everyone; as a result, we rely heavily on the generosity of others to perform maintenance and repairs. Tune ups, tire changes, and general cleaning are some of the most common jobs. If you are mechanically inclined (previous work with bikes an asset), can work independently, and enjoy working with your hands, please contact us to help.
